Blazers were much better at Twitter than basketball during Warriors beatdown

The Warriors put on a cruel clinic in Game 4 against the Trail Blazers, as they swept the series in four games. All Portland’s Twitter account could do was watch, and through it all became one of the most fun things on Monday night.
Mens De’Vondre Campbell Jersey
Mens Semyon Varlamov Jersey There was one final matter to settle — with Chance The Rapper. Before the series everyone noticed that Chance had a concert in Oakland the same night Game 5 would have taken place, if the series went that long. It became a funny footnote to the belief that the Warriors would dominate the Blazers.

Enter Kevin Shattenkirk, who played most of his career with the St. Louis Blues before being flipped to the Washington Capitals at the deadline. Shattenkirk is undeniably the best right-handed defenceman on the market this summer. Whether he would be willing to sign with the Leafs, I do not know; the rumour is that he wants to play in the northeastern United States. Assuming he would consider the Leafs, the question is whether the Leafs should make a competitive offer for his services. The running ballpark figure for Shattenkirk’s contract is considered to be about $7,000,000 AAV for seven years; we’ll assume this is about what he’ll cost.

Kevin Shattenkirk is both an elite offensive defenceman and an elite defensive one.

Shattenkirk has produced at least 42 points per season in each of the last four seasons, and that’s despite some rough injuries. As with many high-scoring defenders, some of that is powerplay production¡ªbut he’s also great at even strength. Of the 111 defenders to play at least 3000 minutes over the last three years, Shattenkirk ranks 14th in primary points per 60 at even strength. Any way you slice it, Shattenkirk is a superb offensive producer.

He said Garrett can line up left or right or wherever an NFL defense desires.

An invitation to the NFL Combine is special for any player, but being a representative of an HBCU adds weight to the meaning for Cohen. “It’s just me and the other guy from an HBCU, Javarius Leamon, so we’re kinda the underdogs.” In actuality, just four of the 330 players invited to the combine came from HBCUs.

“People don’t really know much of us so we really have to put our names out there and do more to get noticed,” Cohen said.

The amount of NFL players from HBCUs has dropped over the course of the past five decades. In 2016, there were 32 players on NFL rosters from HBCUs, down from 36 in 2015. When Black College Sports Page started publishing their report back in 1994, there were 86.

Part of that has to do with the fact that black players used to have no other option but to attend HBCUs, particularly with SEC schools not allowing blacks to even attend most universities at all in the early 1960s. As desegregation took place in the late 60s and early 70s, more and more black players opted for bigger universities. By 1988, 45 percent of black students in the U.S. attended majority-white schools. Now, the amount of HBCU alumni in the NFL is at an all-time low because of it.

He said Garrett can line up left or right or wherever an NFL defense desires. Fisher added that those that say Garrett took plays off in college or became invisible in instances are not accounting for the fact that often he played so many consecutive defensive plays with huge demand and was simply tired on some downs. They asked a lot of him at Texas A&M, said Fisher, and Garrett gave a lot. Even at the NFL level, players get tired on certain plays, Fisher said.

The question for Fisher is what do star defensive players consistently do and how do they play when the game matters most?

“I see an outstanding athlete,’’ Fisher said. “I see a young man who is going to be very successful in the NFL.’’

And if they stay with their defensive-minded building, it will be with the Cleveland Browns.

Authentic Rene Robert Jersey What’s better than Bowser? TWO BOWSERS! This is the move Nintendo needs to make its products more appealing to sports fans. Hold up …

Why the hell hasn’t there been a Nintendo football game? The whole Mushroom Kingdom have played tennis, soccer, golf, and driven go carts — but never played football. This writes itself. Bowser, Wario and Donkey Kong are linemen, Luigi is a tight end — I guess Mario has to be the QB but I’d definitely sub him out for Yoshi. Peach had crazy hops in Super Mario Bros. 2, so she’s a natural wide receiver.

God, I just want to play this game now. See you later, going to go fantasize about this more.

At least three linemen have earned a spot in the first round of every NFL draft since. That was until Thursday night.

With at least two offensive linemen in the top 10 of the last four drafts, including a whopping five in 2013, it’s hard to imagine this is a larger trend. Protecting quarterbacks and creating rushing lanes is still as important as ever — 2017 just didn’t provide a group that teams were excited to parse through.

But with just two gone from the crop, the second day of the NFL draft looks like a feeding ground for teams in need of help up front. You can pull probably 10 blocks per game that were great plays by Jordan. Usually, [they] help spring a big play. We were able to really set some records running the ball, and Jordan was a huge part of that, without a doubt.

Authentic Patrick Marleau Jersey Last season, the Golden Bears racked up a school-record 459 rushing yards against East Stroudsburg, thanks in part to Morgan’s ferocious blocking and leadership along the offensive line. As a team, the Golden Bears ran for 2,492 yards and 29 touchdowns in 2016.

2 players with twin brothers drafted back-to-back in the NFL draft for 1st time

Something thats never happened before, according to ESPN: twins being taken back-to-back in the NFL draft. That doesnt just mean twins to each other. It means twins, period. The network said during its draft coverage on Friday night that no twins (to any parents) had ever been drafted one after the other.

Thats now changed. The 89th pick in this years draft by the Texans was DOnta Foreman, a Texas running back who played in college alongside his twin, receiver Armanti. The 90th pick by the Seahawks was UCF defensive back Shaquill Griffin, whose twin brother Shaquem won AAC player of the year last year. Shaquem only has one hand, because of complications that arose from a congenital birth defect when he was a small child.

Jones played four college seasons at East Carolina. The lightly recruited son of a longtime NFLer, Jones rewrote the FBS career and single-season record books. He thinks hes got the best hands in this draft class. He was the fourth receiver taken, not counting Ohio State H-back Curtis Samuels selection by the Carolina Panthers.

The O.J. slow-speed chase, like other elements of his murder trial, has come into renewed public focus in the last year. ESPN did a harrowing 30 for 30 on the story, which drew wide audiences and critical acclaim. An FX drama based on the case, The People v. O.J. Simpson, starred Cuba Gooding Jr. and was also popular.

Simpson was acquitted in his murder trial. Hes currently in prison after several convictions connected to a 2007 armed robbery in Las Vegas. Simpson is eligible for parole this year.

Myles Garrett was as shocked as everyone else when the Bears traded up for Mitchell Trubisky

The Bears stunned NFL fans when they traded up to the No. 2 overall pick to select quarterback Mitchell Trubisky. The team bet big that he can be its leader of the future, and watching from home, No. 1 pick Myles Garrett was as stunned as everyone else:

In the midst of celebrating being taken first, Garrett froze and watched the TV as it was announced that Chicago gave up four picks to move up in the draft and take Trubisky. Bears fans are coming to terms with the deal, and Garrett, well, he said it all with his face.

There are two clear needs for the Steelers: Outside linebacker and cornerback. They need someone to pair with Bud Dupree and someone to pair with Artie Burns. Dupree now has his partner in crime with Watt.

Authentic Youth Kevin White Jersey Wide receiver isnt the most dire need with A.J. Green still on the roster, but the Bengals offense took a step back when Marvin Jones and Mohamed Sanu left in free agency a year ago. Ross is lightning fast and a home run threat, and the last top-tier receiver before a significant drop-off.

Theres also no shortage of athletic skill position players who would be wasted in an offense that doesnt give them the ball in space.

Wes Welker was a product of the Air Raid system at Texas Tech and became one of the most prolific receivers in NFL history, despite measuring in at 59. By having the flexibility to operate out of shotgun and use spread concepts in a pro-style offense, the Patriots and Broncos were able to get Welker open at will.

A play like Y-stick would tell the Y receiver — often Welker for the Patriots — to run a quick route for 5-7 yards, while a running back attacks the flat, forcing linebackers to cover both.

Conley was playing like a $153 million man

The Grizzlies took a 30-25 lead over the Spurs into the second quarter. Why? Conley was playing like a $153 million man. He had 10 points on a perfect four-of-four shooting and had taken advantage of his matchup against an aging Tony Parker.

And then the Spurs switched Danny Green, a solid perimeter defender, onto Conley. He never scored again after the 8:40 mark in the second quarter.

The same goes for Randolph, who was only able to score once during San Antonio’s second-half run. The Spurs had a four-point third-quarter lead when Z-Bo entered with nine minutes remaining. They entered the fourth quarter with a 20-point cushion as Randolph scored just two points in the period.

Memphis was already at a disadvantage in a series against a San Antonio team with the league’s second-best record. The Spurs have the best player in the series, Leonard, and have Gregg Popovich’s coaching expertise to make the supporting pieces work.

By 1979, the Seminoles would be playing in Orange Bowls and racking up top-10 rankings as SDSU became a victim of ambition. Gilbert began transitioning from a reliance on JUCOs to more high school athletes; he went 16-18 from 1978-80 and was fired. Doug Scovil went 24-32-3 in five years. Dennis Stoltz went 16-19 in three.

Brady Hoke and Rocky Long broke the long stretch of mediocrity. Hoke took over in 2009 and had the Aztecs bowling by 2010. Long hit a ceiling — eight wins per year with an average S&P+ ranking of 69.3 from 2011-14 — but he busted through it.

Since starting 2015 at 1-3, SDSU is 21-3. The Aztecs have won two straight MWC titles and just finished in the AP poll for the first time since 1977.

It’s easy to think that SDSU should always be this good. Even without a true home stadium — they play in Qualcomm Stadium, five miles from campus — and less than robust financial support, the Aztecs have geographical advantages in recruiting and a history of offensive brilliance, both in the Coryell/Gilbert years and when Marshall Faulk was romping.nike_jaguars_565

Torontos identity was transformed as soon as it acquired two key defensive pieces at the trade deadline. While Serge Ibaka has helped solidify the paint, Tucker brought a physicality that illustrates the Raptors new spirit. This dude is somehow able to get his body into ball-handlers without getting called for fouls.

Theres something visceral about Tucker swallowing up a driver like this.

Ever since taking the head coaching gig at Michigan, Jim Harbaugh has slowly devolved into a living, breathing Tim & Eric character. Now he’s here to wish you a happy Easter!

Yes, think like the egg, everyone. Develop a strong outer shell to protect your gooey insides. Paul George can be frustrating because he goes one-on-one for tough shots too often. He can make those, and he has been making those down the stretch to lead Indiana into the playoffs, but you wish hed make life easier on himself.

He becomes especially dangerous when he remembers how good an off-ball player he is. This is a Pacers screen-the-screener set theyve used for several years, and it still works.

This speaks to Leonards core strength. The goal of any one-on-one player is to thrust their shoulders by the defender to create a driving angle. Most great ones do so by moving laterally or changing speeds, but Leonard accomplishes the goal by going straight ahead. He forces defenders to open up, and they just bounce off him when they try to catch up.

former Workers’ Revolutionary Party columnist Chris Hughton is widely liked and respected throughout the game

Jason Garrison Game Jersey Sam Baldock went up with West Ham in 2010-11, but was moved on to Bristol City without making a Premier League appearance. And the brilliant Anthony Knockaert, Championship Player of the Year this season, was promoted with Leicester City in 2014-15, but spent most of the season playing in the reserves before rejecting a new contract.

As for their manager, former Workers’ Revolutionary Party columnist Chris Hughton is widely liked and respected throughout the game, but his own forays into Premier League management have had mixed results. If his sacking by Newcastle in December 2010 was widely held to be harsh, his departure from Norwich City in April 2014 was much less controversial. The Canaries were floating just above the relegation zone, and were stuck in a dreadful run of form.
Mens Bryan Bickell Jersey
Enough negativity, though. Hughton reckons that this promotion amounts to a greater personal achievement than taking Newcastle up in 2010, and looking at the money spent by the teams around them, it’s hard to argue. Perhaps the fact that Hughton and Brighton have competed with Rafa Benitez’s side all through the season suggests that they have the capacity to mix it with their theoretical betters. And perhaps Burnley’s establishment of Fortress Turf Moor this season offers a template for survival.

Even if they don’t, at least we’ll get a couple more installments of the M23 Derby, as Crystal Palace and Brighton renew their deeply felt, slightly confusing rivalry. So that should be fun.

The only question was how much energy the Cavaliers would exert to get to the finals.

Once Cleveland realized it wasn’t winning more games than the Golden State Warriors this season, regular season record didn’t matter. Champions don’t play for the regular season. They play for the finals.

Home-court advantage for Cleveland in the NBA Finals has long been out of reach. Those hopes were dashed when Golden State signed Kevin Durant and when Kawhi Leonard began to play like Kobe Bryant. If the Houston Rockets come out of the West, they’ll also have a better record than any Eastern Conference team.
Game Mens Ike Davis Jersey
The only question was how much energy the Cavaliers would exert to get to the finals.

The talent disparity between the Cavaliers and Celtics (or any other Eastern Conference team) is tangible. Cleveland has two All-Star starters and a reserve in Kevin Love. They added Kyle Korver, Deron Williams, and a rim-protecting big in Larry Sanders.

The Bengals have went to overtime three times this season. It worked out in their favor in Week 6, as they bested the Buffalo Bills by a field goal, but they’ve fallen to the Miami Dolphins and the aforementioned Ravens in overtime over their past two games.

Cincinnati does have some quality wins on its record though. They took down the New England Patriots in Week 5 and the Detroit Lions in Week 7. But slow starts and a lack of execution in the clutch has hurt them big time. They scored 14 points in the fourth quarter against the Ravens to force overtime, and then did absolutely nothing once overtime began.

Limited Mens TJ Brodie Jersey The Bengals have the No. 7 pass offense, No. 7 pass defense and No. 9 rush defense. They are a legitimate playoff contender at this point, but faltering against the Browns and other divisional opponents down the line could easily knock them out of the lead and into a battle for a wildcard spot.

What if this year’s NBA rookies could choose their own teams?

Denver Nuggets: The Nuggets will enter the summer with the third-most cap space of all teams, but a rookie doesn’t help them at this point in their development. Denver needs a proven veteran — preferably an All-Star point guard — to take the next step as a franchise. Malik Monk was a thought here, but with the Knicks able to offer the same amount of money, the bigger market is more enticing.

Boston Celtics: Owning a draft pick and signing a rookie in free agency are two different things. The Celtics don’t need to get any younger. What they need is to pool their assets together to reel in a big fish. Adding another rookie doesn’t help them unless they’re trading him for an All-Star. They’ll instead use their cap space to chase top veterans.

Orlando Magic: Adding a rookie wouldn’t kill the Magic, but they’re in need of a capable veteran point guard. Three years in, Elfrid Payton hasn’t been the answer. While there are quite a few rookie point guards available in the draft, an experienced floor general is what the Magic need. Plus, players like Fultz, Smith, Ball, and Fox would head to more stable organizations rather than take Orlando’s money.

Biggest 2017 game: WMU hasn’t beaten Michigan State and might not have a better chance than when the Broncos visit East Lansing in Week 2 (Sept. 9). Still, it’s hard to call anything else the biggest game when the season ends with trips to Northern Illinois (Nov. 15) and Toledo (Nov. 24).

Summary: P.J. Fleck was a unique coach who brought unprecedented success. It will be hard for Tim Lester to clear the bar Fleck set, but the former WMU quarterback is uniquely qualified to try.
